Mark Anthony Sir Anthony master@myponygirl.com http://www.myponygirl.com Motto: "I pulled the trigger and rode the bullet" I have been
involved in the BDSM lifestyle for several years. Have been in the scene for
over 10 years. Yes, pre-internet. The last two with my live in slave and
lover, erin. My desire is to write about the good, the bad, the ugly and the
misunderstood aspects of BDSM as a lifestyle. |

Ok, this column is more of a rant than an education piece...
In some ways, I expected it. In other ways I did not. With great pride and satisfaction I announced to the local BDSM community I was a published columnist. The first article I thought was appropriate for the publication and the community. Being about how BDSM as a lifestyle is similar to other lifestyles. I was flooded with praise and criticism. The article pointed out the similarities between our lifestyle and others. How we may be different in some ways while in others, we share similarities. This apparently ruffled a few feathers. Mostly from those who like to preach about being open minded, free from prejudices of other lifestyles and of course.... support of alternative lifestyles. I was most shocked at the ones who accused me of jumping ship to become a swinger... Abandoning my BDSM way of life for that of sex parties and lustful conquests. These emails and posting were not from the fringe members of the groups or the wannabe's weekend Master/slaves. They came from those in the BDSM community I had trusted and actually looked up to. People I thought were real and genuine in their thoughts about the lifestyle and being open and supportive of others. But now that I write for a news website owned by a swinger.... Well,,, I must have become one.... That analogy makes absolutely no sense. Does this mean I am no longer into the BDSM lifestyle because I associate with other lifestyles? That I traded my whips and leather cuffs in for a box of condoms and disposable sheets?? That I enjoy the company of others or if the opportunity presents itself, that I watch as my slave enjoy and be enjoyed by others?? Is one lifestyle better than the other? I discovered that when pinned to the wall, some people of a lifestyle choice will admit that THEIR lifestyle choice is the only real one, and any other is just about kinky sex! My follow-up was for them to re-read the title of the website... It is plural, not singular. Plural... More Than One. Score another one for public education Can a person enjoy more than one fruit in life?? My slave and I have enjoyed the few swing related events I have attended, met some wonderful people and enjoyed great conversation and some wonderful experiences.... So?? One of the key reasons I asked to write for Lifestylesnews, is Lee and his mission, or at least what I view as his mission:. To educate, inform and entertain people who chose to live life their way. To help tear down the barriers, expose the ignorance and show that we all have the same issues and the same challenges, no matter how we chose to live our life. That living a "lifestyle" takes responsibility, some commitment and a lot of education. Not to mention some awareness of others. And that freedom of choice is not free and is not a given. Agree?
